Jaslean J. LaTaillade, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, brings her clinical and research experience in the areas of marital violence, couple distress and therapy, and African American couple relationships to the current project. She is co-chair of the Research Practice Network committee of the Couples Research and Therapy Special Interest Group and chair of the African Americans in Behavior Therapy through the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, serves on the Research Committee for the Family Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and has served as a reviewer for journals focused on couples and families. In addition, she has received several small grants and awards for her research on predictors of distress among African American same-race and interracial couples. For the current project, she will apply her knowledge of predictors of satisfaction and stability among African American couple relationships to examine how changes in relationship quality over time predict longitudinal changes in aspects of father involvement for African Americans.
